Roadway Design Engineer

Overview

The time is right to join SCIGON! We are currently seeking a Roadway Design Engineer in our Chicago, Illinois office location.

 

Job Summary

Your initial assignment will center on work associated with the Tri-State Corridor for Illinois Tollway. An example of tasks to be performed includes:

  • Review Structure Geotechnical reports for the mainline corridor
  • Review concept Verification reports for widening of mainline roadways
  • Contribute to drafting Intergovernmental Agreement (IGAs) for work between the Tollway and IDOT
  • Prepared memos on work details for various contracts associated with the Tri-State
  • Reviewed Task lists and close out completed tasks
  • Updated monthly Progress Report DCM and DSE Tasks lists

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform roadway or highway design tasks for projects of medium to large size and complexity
  • Work with roadway geometrics, drainage system design, traffic analysis and design, traffic maintenance, municipal engineering, general civil/site development
  • Utilize MicroStation for design
  • Prepare/review design plans, reports, documents, specs, construction cost estimates, and schedules for projects

 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficiency with progressive roadway design
  • Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures
  • Strong MicroStation, MS Word, and MS Excel Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Qualification/Skills

  • Professional Engineer License in Illinois
  • Experience working with IDOT/ Illinois Toll Highway Authority
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
